Rice Wine Vinegar

This is part of a skills builders online teaching class for my students during the social distancing part of the pandemic when we could no longer meet in person.  Painted from life, experimenting with direct complements, leaning complements and temperature shifts in hue we discussed how to reproduce the effect of light on objects.  The idea was to also choose colors that would somehow remind the viewer of what is special tastewise about the object being painted.  The vibrant yellow/orange background is bright and zingy, reminiscent of the sweet citrus flavor of Rice Vinegar.  Used extensively in Chinese cooking, it also makes an excellent source of acid in salad dressings too.
